Dining with the Ambassadors’
Gala Evening Supports Community
Ottawa, ON –Rockcliffe Park is one of Canada’s most affluent and beautiful heritage neighbourhoods and home to the official residences of diplomats from around the world. Once again this year, the Friends of the Village of Rockcliffe Park Foundation organized Dining with the Ambassadors. This unique gala supports community facilities, environmental conservation and preservation of the heritage nature of Rockcliffe Park. Alana Abraham, Executive Director and part owner of Sutton Group - Premier Realty (2008) Ltd.*, helped to organize the event and set-up the community centre where guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, courtesy of the main sponsor, REALTOR® Chris Lacharity.
“Sutton Ottawa is pleased to be a part of Dining with the Ambassadors,” says Alana. “This year, the proceeds will support the Rockcliffe Library and Community Centre. The embassies are happy to participate as it gives them an opportunity to meet their neighbours and to give back to the community where they reside. This April event raised a record $25,000, which surpasses the $20,000 raised in 2010. It was a very memorable evening of excellent company and outstanding cuisine all for a worthy cause.”
The evening began at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception at the Rockcliffe Community Centre and Public Library. The reception was an opportunity to mingle and to be officially introduced to several Ambassadors and High Commissioners who would be receiving guests for dinner at their residences. The 150 guests then dispersed to one of many embassies located within Rockcliffe Park. They enjoyed expertly prepared meals that typically included dishes of the host embassy’s country.
The Village of Rockcliffe Park Foundation is a registered charity. Past and continuing projects have included funding for the Rockcliffe Park Residents Association, Jubilee Garden, rehabilitation of the sports field, publications including “Rockcliffe Park: A History of the Village” and the revised “Welcome to Rockcliffe Park” booklet, the MacKay Lake management plan and the science collection of the library.
